School Dropouts Prevention Center
The School Drop-out Prevention Centre, functioning under the aegis of The Sivakasi Don Bosco Society, is a significant outreach initiative of Don Bosco Vidivelli, Kalavasal. It is committed to supporting young individuals who have discontinued their formal education—particularly those from economically marginalized backgrounds and those who have failed in Government Public Examinations.
Launched on 7th June 2003 and housed in a purpose-built facility inaugurated on 6th January 2008, the centre provides systematic academic guidance and personalized coaching to enable students to reappear for Government exams. Our mission is to empower these youth with the skills and confidence needed to reclaim their educational journey and shape a brighter future.
Each year, the centre serves between 50 and 70 students. Education is offered in three batches to suit the academic calendar:
- June Batch – For students preparing for supplementary exams.
- July Batch – For those appearing in the October public examinations.
- November Batch – For students gearing up for the March public exams.
The programme is widely respected across the region, and many new students are referred by alumni who have transformed their lives through the centre’s support. The facility caters to both residential students and day scholars and is run by three dedicated full-time teachers under the leadership of a committed programme coordinator.
To remove financial barriers, the centre offers all educational materials—such as notebooks, stationery, and textbooks—free of cost. Residential students also receive wholesome meals and participate in a variety of life skill and value-based training sessions that contribute to their holistic development.
Driven by the Don Bosco spirit of creativity, commitment, and social concern, the initiative works tirelessly to uplift school drop-outs, child labourers, and other vulnerable youth. Our vision is to build a literate, responsible, and socially engaged generation that serves as a force for positive change in society.
