Currently, 15 active SHGs form a strong and vibrant network of rural women who are determined to build better lives for themselves and their families. These groups go beyond savings and microcredit—they are platforms for growth, solidarity, and leadership.

Women meet regularly to save collectively, access small loans, and support one another through shared goals and mutual trust. These pooled savings become a crucial financial resource, enabling members to manage household needs, respond to emergencies, and start small income-generating ventures.

The Sivakasi Don Bosco Society further strengthens these groups by offering practical skill development and capacity-building workshops in tailoring, food processing, herbal product making, organic farming, and micro-enterprise management. These trainings equip women with the tools to become self-reliant and economically active contributors within their households and communities.

Beyond economic empowerment, the SHGs are catalysts for social change. Regular sessions on health, hygiene, environmental awareness, and family welfare promote informed choices and a deeper sense of civic engagement. As their confidence grows, many SHG members emerge as leaders and role models, inspiring others in their communities.

This initiative is guided by the firm belief that empowering women lays the foundation for empowered communities. Through ongoing support from Don Bosco Vidivelli and active involvement of local leaders, these 15 Self-Help Groups are creating lasting impact—fostering resilience, building social bonds, and paving the path toward inclusive and sustainable rural development.
