BASIC COMPUTER TRAINING PROGRAMME
In today’s increasingly digital world, access to technology and the ability to use it effectively have become essential tools for education, communication, and future employment. Recognizing this reality, The Sivakasi Don Bosco Society, through its outreach centre Don Bosco Vidivelli, Kalavasal, has launched a forward-thinking initiative to bridge the digital divide for rural children—the Basic Computer Training Programme. With the support of Desai Foundation Trust and SPS India Foundation, this programme is unlocking new opportunities for school-going children in and around the Kalavasal region.
Designed to foster digital literacy and build foundational skills, the training provides school students with a hands-on learning experience in essential computer operations. The curriculum is carefully structured to be accessible and practical, covering a wide range of topics such as operating system basics, typing proficiency, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and safe internet navigation. Through interactive sessions and guided tutorials, students are introduced to the digital tools that are crucial for academic success and real-world applications.

The programme is conducted in a supportive, student-friendly environment that emphasizes both technical competence and personal confidence. Children, many of whom have limited or no prior exposure to computers, are given the opportunity to engage with technology at their own pace, ensuring that no one is left behind in the digital journey. The focus is not just on learning software, but on nurturing curiosity, problem-solving, and independent thinking—skills that are vital in the modern world.
By integrating digital education into its broader mission of community development, Don Bosco Vidivelli is preparing the next generation to navigate the future with confidence and competence. The Basic Computer Training Programme acts as a stepping stone for children to explore further educational and career opportunities in an increasingly tech-driven society.
This initiative stands as a testament to The Sivakasi Don Bosco Society’s unwavering commitment to inclusive education and child empowerment. With each computer session, children are not only acquiring skills—they are gaining a sense of possibility, independence, and a brighter vision for the future. Through sustained efforts like this, Don Bosco Vidivelli continues to be a beacon of hope, lighting the way for rural youth to thrive in a rapidly evolving world.
